Special assembly on World Environment Day – 2024

Objective:
To raise awareness among the students about the importance of protecting the environment and to encourage them to take action towards a sustainable future.

Activities Conducted:
Special Assembly by students of grades 6-10. Audience- Grades 6-10.

Introduction of the theme:
The theme ‘Land Restoration, Desertification and Drought Resilience’ was introduced to the students.

Saplings were planted in the school premises.
NCC cadets had slogans on the theme. Cotton cloth bags and saplings were distributed by the NCC cadets.
Grades 1-5 Multimedia presentation: Students of grades 1-5 were shown a video on the theme of World Environment Day ,2024 for students to understand the importance of World Environment Day and the need for environmental conservation.

Class room activities:

Grades 1-2:
Students made posters on saving the environment.

Grade 3:
Paper bag making activity was conducted in the classroom where students made simple paper bags using newspaper and glue.

Grade 4:
Group Discussion- Students of grade 4 were engaged in a group discussion activity on how to reduce plastic in daily use.

Grade 5:
Students of grade 5 participated in the plant sapling drive at school by bringing saplings to school and planting them into pots.

Eco:
Friendly Pledge- All students of grade 1-5 took a pledge to reduce plastic use, recycle more and take care of their environment.

Outcomes:
Increased Awareness: Students gained better understanding of plastic pollution and its impact on the environment. Students committed to adopting eco -friendly habits in their daily lives by adorning the roles of energy ambassadors as they promised to turn off lights and fans when not in use. They also promised to reduce the use of plastic by carrying their own reusable bags when required.

Conclusion:
The World Environment Day activities were a great success, fostering a sense of responsibility and commitment towards the environment among students.
